I built a 17-foot composite kayak. This is what it started as. There is plywood and a straight 2x4 for the strongback, and a good supply of western redcedar.

Here the strongback has been constructed and the strips milled.

The deck has been stripped but not glassed yet.

The moon is curly maple and black walnut

The sun is farmed lacewood and curly maple

The star (compass rose?) is curly maple and black walnut
